Pastor Cameron D. Jenkins, born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 7, 1996 to Tamara M. Jenkins and Phillip J. Burrow, is the elder of two children. Accepting Jesus Christ at the tender age of five, and beginning his ministry at the age of nine, Pastor Jenkins went on to become a licensed messenger of the Gospel at age thirteen. Pastor Jenkins’ preaching and teaching fervently and faithfully spans a total of 16 years. Pastor Jenkins is known as one of the young, emerging, innovative, energetic, and dynamic preachers of his time. During his years as an undergraduate student at Alabama State University Pastor Jenkins served as the Youth Pastor and Young Adult Bible Study Teacher at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. While at Pilgrim Rest he was instrumental in operational management of the west campus, providing ministerial leadership, cultivating fruitful relationships between the church and community and establishing programs designed to engage and enlighten the college community. In 2018 Pastor Jenkins was called to serve as the second senior pastor of the Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church | North Pratt. While in this position, Pastor Jenkins provided leadership that was mission focused, giving birth to a ministry that was Christ Centered, Bible Based, and Spirit Led. Mount Moriah and the surrounding community knew him as a church strategist, change agent, and community advocate.
In just three years as the Senior Pastor of Mount Moriah, Pastor Jenkins was able to achieve in detail, financial stabilization to the point of zero debt, the purchase of a brand new van which was paid in full, complete ownership of the church and it’s incorporation, church sanctuary structural upgrades, state of the art sound system and video technology, implemented the powerchurch software which houses membership intake, the church directory, community engagement, and contributions, mass call and text systems, production lights, a beautification project which included: beautifying the memorial bell, implementing a fresh and new brand guide and logo, new Sunday School banners and pulpit paramounts, beautifying the overall church campus, and purchasing new fellowship hall tables and chairs. Keeping fellowship at the forefront, Pastor Jenkins established the Mount Moriah Classic which was a time to come together and celebrate not only with the church family, but also with the community of North Pratt City. Because he is an advocate for discipleship he also ensured that the church re-gained their 501(c)3 status all while creating a more efficient way for members to give electronically. To continue to educate his members on the importance of the body of Christ and operating as such, he hosted the first leadershift conference for the entire church downtown Birmingham at the Hilton Garden Inn. In the midst of COVID-19 the church continued to provide food and support for the community, as well as pop up appreciation days where members could receive free gas cards, gift cards, love tokens and more, and all of this is just a summary of the accomplishments of Pastor Jenkins in his time as Pastor of Mount Moriah.
In all that he does, Pastor Jenkins does not fail to acknowledge his roots and foundation. He is a proud alumnus of Alabama State University where he graduated with honors and served as the teacher of two weekly bible studies, the Vice President of Martin Luther King Jr. Residence Hall, a Golden Ambassador, Member of the National Leadership and Success Society, a Lifetime member and Chaplain of Nu Alpha Nu Service Fraternity Inc. as well as member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Beta Upsilon Chapter. Pastor Jenkins has recently been honored by Alabama State University and the City of Birmingham, Alabama for his diligence and integrity in ministry, scholarly endeavors, youth empowerment, and community involvement. He is also authoring a christian devotional entitled, “ Fear Not!” which is due to release this winter, Pastor Jenkins is a Chaplain of Jefferson County. Pastor Jenkins is currently a graduate student at the Morehouse School Of Religion, where he is slated to obtain the Master of Divinity Degree while also employed as Residential Life Director, and Assistant Campus Activities Director at Talladega College. He is proud to say that he is encouraging the youth to “Strive for the top because the bottom is much too crowded.”
“My biography tells about my life on paper, which is ok. But, when you look me in my face you will always see a Called, Chosen, and Commissioned servant of God. Only because of God’s grace and mercy have I been born again, and I can truly stand here today and say, over and over again, that it is in my heart, my mind, and my soul to serve the Lord. Now, I may be young but I know for a fact that serving the Lord will certainly pay off… not after while…but right now…”
